The Great - Series 3 out this July

The entertaining but not entirely historically accurate comedy The Great, follows the life of the Empress Catherine of Russia (Elle Fanning) as she goes from German princess to powerful matriarch and Empress of all Russia, seizing power from her tempestuous husband Emperor Peter (Nicholas Hoult). Whilst the historical accuracy of the show is debatable, they have used some incredible historic settings for the royal duo’s residences. The glorious 16th & 17th century Hatfield House, home to the Marquess’s of Salisbury takes centre stage, as does the regency grandeur of Belvoir Castle, and the Neo classical splendour of Castle Howard in Yorkshire.
