Castle Howard

One of Britain’s greatest stately homes, Castle Howard is a breath-taking architectural masterpiece in north Yorkshire, built by Sir John Vanbrugh for the Earl of Carlisle in 1699. Famous for its starring role in two adaptations of Evelyn Waugh’s Brideshead Revisited and more recently in Bridgeton, the magnificent interiors of the house and its stunning gardens & romantic setting, continue to delight visitors. Harewood House

With one of the finest art collections in Britain, Harewood House is one of the ‘Treasure Houses of England’. Set in stunning gardens & parkland, the 18th century house, which was formerly home to Princess Mary, Countess of Harewood (only daughter of George V) is no longer lived in by the Lascelles family, but is subsequently open throughout the year to visitors who can admire its decadent furnishings, and incredible collection. Harewood also hosts a unique offering of events, workshops, exhibitions and family days out, including truffle & portraiture workshops, to art club for kids and an exhibition on the work of celebrated 18th century artist: Sir Joshua Reynolds.

Bramham Park

Inspired by Italy’s great palazzo’s the stunning 17th century Bramham Park is amongst Yorkshire’s grandest stalely homes. Home to the Lane-Fox family, Bramham’s offering is unique as host not only of the Leeds festival in the summer, but in contrast a stunning, tranquil wedding venue with sprawling gardens. You may well recognise its golden façade and grounds from the highly popular ITV series Victoria. Bramham has a packed schedule of events throughout the year for you to enjoy, including the renowned annual Bramham International Horse Trials in June.

One of Britain’s most striking gothic stately homes, Carlton Towers near Leeds is set in glorious parkland, with magnificent gothic interiors and an incredible story, Carlton is well worth a visit. Home to Lord & Lady Gerald Fitzalan-Howard, Lady Gerald appeared in the second series of Duchess to discuss the fascinating history of Carlton and the Howard family. Today it is a highly popular wedding venue, and on selected dates open to visitors.
